Hull City have completed the signing of versatile French forward Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice on a five-year contract as they strengthen for their first Premier League season since 2016-17.

Hull City have completed the signing of Mohamed-Ali Cho from Nice, with the French forward putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the MKM Stadium. Both clubs confirmed the move on 27 August 2026, Hull City announcing him as their 12th signing of the summer while OGC Nice used their own statement to wish their former player "full success for the rest of his career". The fee is reported to be in the region of £13m (around €15m), with add-ons of up to roughly €5m reportedly tied to Hull retaining their Premier League status this season.

Head coach Sergej Jakirovic had been pushing to add attacking cover, and explained what appealed to him about Cho: "He's a good player, he played on good level in France, also he's versatile — he can play right winger but also number 10, striker, left winger, so he gives us a lot of options especially when injury will come." That flexibility across the front line was the main selling point, giving Hull cover in more than one position as they navigate a first Premier League campaign since 2016-17, a return they secured via last season's play-offs.

For Nice, the sale brings a profit on a player they signed from Real Sociedad for around €10m in January 2024. Cho went on to make 93 appearances in all competitions for the club, scoring 12 goals and adding 13 assists, including 21 outings across the Champions League and Europa League. He developed into a first-choice attacker under Franck Haise, comfortable anywhere across the front three, so his exit leaves a gap in Nice's attacking options even as the club books a return on their investment.

His output had cooled in his final season in Ligue 1: Cho made 37 appearances in 2025-26 but managed only five goals and five assists, down on his earlier form for the club, and he had barely featured for Nice in the early weeks of the new season before the move went through, with no goals or assists registered in that time.

Cho, left-footed but used mainly off the right, describes himself as comfortable in all three forward positions and points to his dribbling, pace and directness as his main attributes. "It is the best league in the world. It is going to be a really good challenge," he said after completing the move, adding that he was "really excited" to get started. He also spoke of the pull of moving closer to home, noting he already has connections in England, including former teammate Darko Gyabi.

The move was not entirely smooth: Hull were reported to have pulled out of talks with Nice earlier in the window before a fresh agreement was struck. Fabrizio Romano reported the clubs had settled on a fee around the weekend of 22-23 August, after which Cho was given permission to fly to England for a medical, with the switch finalised a few days later.
