Hull City have completed a deadline-day move for Genoa right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy, with Cody Drameh heading the other way to Italy.

Hull City have completed the signing of right-back Brooke Norton-Cuffy from Genoa, agreeing a fee in the region of £12m (around €14m) on transfer deadline day. The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract, and the move was confirmed by both clubs on 1 September 2026, Genoa's official statement formalising the transfer as part of a wider piece of business that also saw Cody Drameh leave Hull for the Serie A club on a permanent deal.

For Hull, newly promoted to the Premier League, the signing plugs a gap left by Drameh's departure and gives Sergej Jakirovic a right-back with genuine top-flight pedigree in Serie A rather than a project player. Norton-Cuffy came through Arsenal's academy and represented England at various youth levels up to under-21, and Hull have moved to bring him back to English football having tracked his progress in Italy.

Genoa lose a player who had become a fixture in their side. Norton-Cuffy joined the club from Arsenal in 2024 and went on to make more than 40 appearances across two seasons, establishing himself as a regular starter under Daniele De Rossi last term. Arsenal retain a financial interest in the sale: a 20% sell-on clause included in his original 2024 move to Genoa means the north London club will bank close to £2.4m from this deal.

His recent form for Genoa backs up the size of the fee. Norton-Cuffy made close to 30 Serie A appearances in the 2025-26 season, cementing his place as first-choice right-back before featuring again for the club in the early weeks of this campaign ahead of the move to Hull. He arrives without goals or assists to his name this season, but that reflects his role as a defender rather than any dip in form.

At Hull, he is expected to go straight into the right-back slot vacated by Drameh, whose two-year spell at the club included two Premier League substitute appearances after Hull's promotion. Norton-Cuffy's path has taken him through loan spells at Lincoln City, Rotherham United, Coventry City and Millwall before his move to Genoa, so this is his first taste of English football since leaving Arsenal — and his first appearance in the Premier League itself.

The swap of full-backs between the two clubs, completed within the same deadline-day window, gives both sides players who know the level they are stepping into: Drameh returns to Serie A having already had a taste of English top-flight football at Hull, while Norton-Cuffy brings two full seasons of regular Italian league experience into a Hull side still finding its feet in the Premier League.
