Fenerbahçe have completed the signing of Vedat Muriqi from Mallorca, confirming the move on 19 June 2026 for a reported fee of around €15.5m. The Kosovo international has signed a three-year contract that runs to 2029, with the terms first reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. It is a return to familiar surroundings for the 32-year-old striker, who previously played for Fenerbahçe during the 2019/20 season before moving on to Spain.
The deal is the first major piece of transfer business under new Fenerbahçe president Aziz Yıldırım, who was elected in early June 2026, and it follows the club's decision to bring back İsmail Kartal as head coach for a fourth spell in charge after Domenico Tedesco's departure in April. Fenerbahçe finished as Süper Lig runners-up behind Galatasaray again last season, missing out on the title but still qualifying for the Champions League, and the club has clearly identified a lack of firepower up front as something to fix. Muriqi fits that brief: a big, physical forward who holds the ball up well, wins it in the air and finishes chances reliably.
For Mallorca, it is a heavy loss. Muriqi leaves as the club's all-time record goalscorer, with 58 goals in 155 appearances since first arriving on loan in 2021/22. In a statement confirming the sale, the club thanked him for his contributions and described him as a legend of the modern era at Son Moix. The timing makes it sting more: the transfer follows Mallorca's relegation from La Liga at the end of the 2025/26 season, so they lose their most productive attacker just as they try to bounce straight back up from the Segunda División.
Muriqi was in the best form of his career as Mallorca went down. He scored 23 goals in 37 La Liga appearances in 2025/26, adding an assist, and finished the season as the division's second-highest scorer behind only Kylian Mbappé. It is a remarkable return for a player who only became a regular starter in Spain in his late twenties, and it explains why Fenerbahçe were willing to pay a substantial fee for a 32-year-old rather than chase a younger option.
At Fenerbahçe, Muriqi is expected to lead the line as first-choice striker, giving Kartal's team a target they can play into and a genuine goal threat from crosses and set pieces. His hold-up play and aerial ability should help the team compete against sides who sit deep and defend in numbers, both domestically and in a Champions League campaign where physical, direct forwards can be effective. His past spell at the club and his familiarity with Turkish football should also help him settle in quickly.
