The Slovakia international has completed a permanent move from Lechia Gdańsk to newly promoted Serie A side Frosinone in a deal reported to be worth up to €13m with add-ons.

Tomáš Bobček has completed a permanent transfer from Lechia Gdańsk to Frosinone, in a deal reported at around €10.7m and capable of rising above €13m with bonuses. Both clubs confirmed the move on 28 August, with Frosinone's official statement announcing they had reached agreement with Lechia for a five-year contract, running to 2031. Lechia posted their own farewell message, thanking Bobček "for all the goals, emotions and moments spent in white and green colours." The fee is a record sale for Lechia and one of the biggest ever paid for a player leaving Polish football.

Frosinone are back in Serie A this season after finishing second in Serie B, and Bobček is their marquee summer signing as they rebuild for the top flight. At 6ft2in, right-footed but comfortable finishing with his left foot and strong in the air, he gives the club a physical focal point up front to compete with Antonio Raimondo and fellow new arrival Daniel Birligea for the number nine shirt. Italian journalist Nicolò Schira reported the deal was in its final stages on 26 August, before Bobček travelled to Rome for a medical the following day, with the announcement following on the 28th.

For Lechia, it means losing the player who fired them out of the second tier and then became their focal point back in the Ekstraklasa. Bobček joined from MFK Ružomberok in September 2023, helped Lechia win promotion, and then battled through injury problems in his first season back in the top flight before establishing himself as one of the league's most productive forwards. Under the terms of his original move from Ružomberok, his old Slovak club are also entitled to a cut of any profit from this sale, though the bulk of the record fee goes to Lechia.

His form last season explains the price tag. Bobček scored 20 goals in 30 Ekstraklasa appearances in 2025-26, adding six assists to finish as the division's top scorer and its leading forward overall. Across his three years in Gdańsk he scored more than 35 goals in over 70 appearances in all competitions. He also won his first Slovakia cap in June 2025, adding international recognition to a breakout domestic campaign.

At Frosinone, he arrives as a like-for-like upgrade on the club's previous options at centre-forward, offering a different profile to Raimondo and Birligea with his heading ability and finishing off either foot. How quickly he adjusts to Serie A defending, a considerable step up from the Ekstraklasa, will determine whether the club's biggest outlay of the summer pays off, but a five-year contract suggests Frosinone see him as a long-term project rather than a short-term fix for their return to the top flight.
