Brentford have confirmed the signing of striker Kaye Furo from Club Brugge, with the 18-year-old putting pen to paper on a five-and-a-half-year deal. The move, subject to international clearance and a work permit, is reported to be worth around €10m (roughly £8.7m) plus add-ons and a sell-on percentage for the Belgian club.
Furo is a 6ft 3in centre-forward who came through the Royal Antwerp academy before switching to Club Brugge in 2017, turning professional there at just 15. He is a Belgium under-21 international and, born to a Nigerian father, is also considered eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level. Head coach Keith Andrews said Brentford had "tracked" Furo "for a while" and were "really excited" to bring him to the club, underlining that this is a long-term bet on potential rather than an immediate first-team fix.
For Brentford, the appeal is obvious: a big, physical forward still only 18, signed on a lengthy contract that protects the club's investment and leaves plenty of room for development. Brentford have built a reputation for this kind of recruitment, and Furo arrives via a route the club knows well — he follows countryman Igor Thiago, who made the same Brugge-to-Brentford move and has since become a key figure in Keith Andrews' attack. The size of the contract suggests the Bees see similar long-term upside, even if the comparison with Thiago's rapid impact is one Brentford themselves have been careful not to force.
Club Brugge lose a player they had earmarked as one for the future rather than the present. Furo made his senior debut only in August 2025, coming off the bench as Brugge thrashed Rangers 6-0 in Champions League qualifying, and went on to make eight first-team appearances this season across the Champions League, the Pro League and the Belgian Cup, also featuring against Arsenal in Europe. His only senior goal so far came in a 3-2 defeat to Sint-Truiden. The bigger body of evidence for his promise is at youth level, where he scored eight goals in 18 Challenger Pro League matches for Club NXT, Brugge's reserve side, last season.
That gap between the physical tools and the end product is the honest picture of where Furo is right now. He has flashed his aerial ability and power in senior football without yet turning that into a consistent scoring record, and he remains without a goal for Brugge's reserves this term. It is a modest platform to build a Premier League move on, but it is one Brentford appear happy to be patient with given his age.
In terms of fit, do not expect Furo to walk straight into Brentford's starting eleven. Reports around the move suggest a loan spell, or more time in the club's development set-up, is the likely next step before he is considered for regular first-team football in England. For now he joins as competition and cover further down the pecking order, behind Brentford's established striking options, with the size of his contract reflecting a bet on the player he could become rather than the one he currently is.
