Aston Villa have completed the signing of PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye for an initial €55m, with the 18-year-old Senegal international putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at Villa Park.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain, with both clubs confirming the move on 1 September 2026. Villa's announcement read that the club was 'delighted to announce the signing of Ibrahim Mbaye from Paris Saint-Germain', while PSG marked his departure with their own statement on the club website. The Senegal international has signed a five-year contract at Villa Park and will wear the number 19 shirt. Villa agreed a fixed fee of €55m (around £47m) for Mbaye, with reports suggesting the overall package, including add-ons, could rise to roughly €60m for PSG, plus a guaranteed sell-on clause worth €4m should he be transferred again in future.

Villa moved for Mbaye after missing out on Rafael Leão, who joined Galatasaray from AC Milan, and saw off interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to get the deal done. Manager Unai Emery wanted a genuine right-sided attacking option to add pace and directness to his forward line, and Mbaye's ability to play across the front three appealed to the coaching staff. The relationship between Villa chairman Nassef Sawiris and PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi was also reported to have helped smooth negotiations. Mbaye becomes Villa's ninth signing of a busy summer that has also brought Nicolas Jackson to the club in a record deal from Chelsea.

For PSG, it means saying goodbye to a player they brought into their academy at the age of ten and who went on to become the youngest player ever to make his Ligue 1 debut for the club, aged 16 years and 208 days, in August 2024. Mbaye won eight trophies during his time in Paris, including two Champions League titles. But the arrivals of Ferran Torres, Mika Godts and Maghnes Akliouche this summer left him further down the pecking order on the right side of attack, and PSG ultimately opted to cash in on a player they judged would benefit from regular first-team football elsewhere.

Mbaye made 42 first-team appearances for PSG in all competitions, scoring four goals and setting up four more. In Ligue 1 last season he featured 24 times, contributing three goals and two assists as PSG won the title again. He has also built a growing reputation on the international stage, winning 15 caps for Senegal and playing a part in their run to the 2026 World Cup, where he scored his side's goal in a 3-1 defeat to France.

At Villa, Mbaye is expected to provide competition and cover on the right flank, giving Emery a younger, more direct alternative in an attack being reshaped this summer. He could make his Premier League debut against Hull City, and supporters won't have long to wait to see him face his old club — Villa host PSG at Villa Park in the Champions League on 8 December.
