Felipe Augusto has completed a permanent transfer from Trabzonspor to Russian champions Zenit St Petersburg, with the move confirmed on 29 June 2026. Trabzonspor said in a statement that an agreement had been reached for the "definitive transfer" of the 22-year-old, who has signed a four-year contract with the option of a further season. Zenit are paying €15 million guaranteed, with a further €5 million available in performance-related add-ons, taking the total package up to €20 million.
Zenit moved quickly to get the deal done. Reports in Turkey said head coach Sergei Semak had asked the club's hierarchy to push the transfer through ahead of the Russian Super Cup on 18 July, giving him time to work Felipe Augusto into his squad before the season begins in earnest. Zenit were not the only club interested — Trabzonspor's president said earlier in the year that offers had come in from four clubs, including Benfica, while Crystal Palace and Wolves had also been credited with checking on the striker.
For Trabzonspor, this is a significant loss. Felipe Augusto arrived from Belgian side Cercle Brugge for just €5 million last July and became their standout performer inside a single season, finishing as the club's second-highest scorer. Trabzonspor have already moved to fill the gap, with Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare emerging as their leading target, alongside interest in Rafiu Durosinmi and Ukrainian striker Matvii Ponomarenko.
The numbers behind the sale explain the price tag. Felipe Augusto scored 15 goals in 40 appearances in his debut campaign in Turkey, 13 of them in the Süper Lig, and capped the season by winning his first senior trophy as Trabzonspor beat Konyaspor 2-1 in the Türkiye Cup final. The left-footed forward described it as a special campaign after being made to feel welcome at the club straight away.
It capped a rapid rise for the Sao Paulo-born forward. He came through at Corinthians but made only 29 first-team appearances there, scoring twice, before a move to Cercle Brugge in 2023 gave him regular football and time to develop. Trabzonspor's gamble on him a year ago has paid off handsomely, quadrupling their outlay inside twelve months.
At Zenit, Felipe Augusto joins a club preparing to defend the Russian title and open their season with the Super Cup, and he took his first training session with his new teammates on 30 June.
