Beto has completed a permanent transfer from Everton to Fiorentina, ending a three-year spell on Merseyside to return to Serie A. Both clubs confirmed the move on 1 September 2026, with Fiorentina paying a reported €18m for the Portugal-born forward. Everton posted their own farewell message on social media, thanking the striker for his "dedication, commitment and service" during his time at Goodison Park.

The move capped a frantic deadline day in Florence. Fiorentina had spent much of the transfer window chasing a loan deal for Manchester United's Joshua Zirkzee, but with those talks stalling, the club turned to Beto instead and struck the €18m deal with Everton. His arrival was directly tied to another departure: Moise Kean completed a season-long loan to Como, with an obligation to make the move permanent, once Fiorentina had a replacement lined up in Beto.

For Everton, it means losing a forward who had become a regular part of the squad since joining from Udinese for a reported £25.8m in 2023. Beto scored 25 goals in 113 appearances in all competitions during his time at Goodison Park, offering a physical focal point who could hold the ball up and stretch defences. His exit leaves Everton short of options up front, with reports linking the club to USA international Folarin Balogun as a possible replacement before their own market business is done.

Beto's form had cooled by the time the move went through — he had yet to get off the mark for Everton this season before leaving. He was at his most prolific earlier in his career, scoring 11 Serie A goals for Udinese in 2021-22 and ten more the following season, the form that first persuaded Everton to sign him. Fiorentina will hope a return to familiar surroundings in Italy helps him rediscover that scoring touch.

At Fiorentina, Beto steps straight into the number nine role vacated by Kean, giving the club a similar profile up front: a strong, mobile striker who can lead the line and finish crosses and cutbacks. He already knows Serie A from his Udinese days, which should shorten any settling-in period, and he arrives with three years of Premier League experience, much of it in a side fighting near the bottom of the table, which could help him adjust quickly to life in Florence.
