Sevilla have sold left-back Oso to Strasbourg in a €10m deal, with the Spaniard signing a five-year contract to become the club's replacement for Diego Moreira.

Sevilla have sold left-back Oso to Strasbourg in a permanent deal worth a fixed 10 million euros, with the French club also agreeing to hand Sevilla 10% of any future sale. Both clubs confirmed the transfer on 30 August, and the 23-year-old has signed a five-year contract running until June 2031. The move was agreed a few days earlier, with reports on 27 August stating the two clubs had settled on the fee and that Oso had given his approval to join, before travelling to France to complete the paperwork.

Strasbourg moved for Oso to fill a gap on the left of their defence after selling Diego Moreira to AC Milan this summer. Like Moreira, Oso can play as an out-and-out left-back or push higher as a left wing-back, and that versatility suits head coach Liam Rosenior's system, which relies on full-backs who get forward and stretch opponents. Strasbourg are owned by BlueCo, the same investment group that owns Chelsea, and the club has increasingly used that link to attract young talent by offering regular Ligue 1 football with the possibility of a bigger move further down the line.

For Sevilla, the sale ends the rapid rise of a player who had come through their academy since 2022 and only nailed down a regular starting spot in the second half of last season. Oso's contract in Seville was due to run out in June 2027, and talks over a new deal had stalled, leaving the club facing the prospect of losing him for nothing within two years. Selling now, in the closing days of the transfer window, brought in a fee and a sell-on clause while easing some of the financial pressure that has followed Sevilla for several seasons.

Oso made his first-team debut in the Copa del Rey back in December 2023 but had to wait two years for his La Liga bow, coming on against Valencia in December 2025. Once he got into the side he quickly became a regular, making 21 league appearances and contributing two goals and three assists as Sevilla finished last season. He carried that form into the new campaign, starting both of Sevilla's opening league fixtures and recording a goal and an assist before the move to Strasbourg was finalised.

At Strasbourg, Oso arrives as a long-term option down the left rather than a straight replacement for Moreira, who played a more advanced, attacking role. Oso's defensive side and stamina make him well suited to the wing-back job Rosenior wants filled, while his age and the length of his new contract suggest the club see him as part of their rebuild after this summer's big-money departures. How quickly he adjusts to Ligue 1 will decide how soon he becomes a regular starter.
