Fulham have completed the signing of Oscar Bobb from Manchester City in a deal worth £27 million. The 22-year-old Norway international has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, keeping him at Craven Cottage into 2031, and has been given the number 14 shirt. As part of the agreement, City retain a 20 per cent sell-on clause and matching rights should Fulham later sell the player on.
Fulham had identified a right winger as a priority for the January window after Adama Traore's departure to West Ham, with Harry Wilson also expected to leave on a free transfer at the end of the season. Manager Marco Silva made clear the move was about more than filling a gap for the rest of this campaign, calling Bobb "a player that we truly believe was a great move from ourselves" and describing the deal as a long-term investment in a player he rates as genuinely talented but in need of consistent game time to show it.
For City, the sale is one of the most lucrative academy exits in the club's history. Bobb broke into Pep Guardiola's first team during the 2023-24 season and looked a real prospect on the right flank, but a fractured leg suffered in pre-season training in August 2024 wiped out most of the following campaign and he never fully forced his way back into the regular rotation. With Guardiola trimming his squad during a tight title run-in, and with Jeremy Doku prioritised for a new contract, Bobb became one of the fringe players allowed to leave rather than continue picking up occasional minutes.
His recent form reflects that stop-start recovery. Bobb made 15 appearances for City this season before injury struck again, this time a knock picked up in a Carabao Cup tie against Brentford on 17 December that has kept him out since. City assistant Pep Lijnders said he believed the move to Silva's Fulham would suit Bobb well as he continues his recovery and looks to rebuild his career. Silva confirmed there was no rush to throw him straight into contention, ruling out an immediate debut against Manchester United as too soon.
When fit, Bobb is a direct, quick-footed wide forward who likes to run at defenders and cut inside from the right, the kind of profile that fits Fulham's need for pace and unpredictability out wide following Traore's exit. He is also an established international, having been a regular starter for Norway during their World Cup qualifying campaign, which underlines the calibre of player Fulham have added even though he arrives short of full match sharpness.
The deal represents a significant statement of intent from Fulham, who have committed to a player for the long term rather than simply patching a short-term gap. Whether he can shake off the injury problems that disrupted his time at City will determine how quickly that investment pays off, but the profile and pedigree are exactly what Silva's side were missing on the right side of attack.
